“Stay in school”. That tag was one of the most popular amongst celebrities and teachers alike during the 1990s, and it still applies today. “Stay in school”. That tag was one of the most popular amongst celebrities and teachers alike during the 1990s, and it still applies today. In fact, staying in school, achieving the best grades, and going onto post-secondary education might be more critical today than they’ve ever been before. That’s because the competition for jobs is greater than it was a decade ago, with so many of today’s youths working hard in order to get into and through a four year bachelor’s program.
For those who didn’t finish a high school or even university program, the door is far from closed. Instead, online universities and continuing education is more prevalent than ever before. It’s also finally receiving the respect it deserves, and this is simply because the demand has become immense. That’s forcing some of the most respected American universities to get on board with online learning, making it easier than ever to earn a degree.
So, why bother with online learning?
That depends on who you are. A young mother with two children can’t make it to 8:30am class because she needs to get her kids to school. A twenty-something business employee can’t make it to 10am class because he’s got a presentation in front of the board. And, a retired veteran, although interested in finishing his degree, can’t be bothered to sit in a classroom full of people a third of his age.
Although all three of these people have different reasons for avoiding a traditional university campus, they’ve all got something important in common. They’re all interested in furthering their education. That’s still very possible, and all it takes is signing up for online education, with the option to finish assignments at home and submit them via the web. It’s like a custom education, and yet it’s just as respected as making your way down to the business hall for an 8:30am exam.
For those who have finished college or university, it isn’t even required that they return in order to pursue a graduate degree. Instead, they can achieve a Master Degree online, just like our little twenty-something business employee described above. Although he’s barely got time to tie his shoes in the morning, it’s very easy for him to work on his MBA assignments in between meetings, after work, and wherever there’s time.
